Minter’s first TV ad focuses on Irene recovery

MONTPELIER — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Sue Minter has launched her first TV ad, highlighting her role in Vermont’s recovery from Tropical Storm Irene.

Minter’s ad, titled “Count On,” points out her role as deputy secretary of the Agency of Transportation and later as the Irene Recovery Officer, appointed by Gov. Peter Shumlin.

“Vermont’s worst disaster in a century. Destruction for miles. As Irene Recovery Office, Sue Minter helped lead the rebuilding with hundreds of miles or road repaired and thousands of homes restored,” a narrator says.

Pam Clapp, a Washington County resident, trumpets Minter’s role in helping the state rebuild in the ad.

“She got us back on our feet, gave everyone hope that we would get through this together as a community,” Clapp says.

In a statement announcing the ad, Minter said she would bring Vermonters together again as governor.

“I have seen our state at its toughest times but also at our best. And, what I’ve learned is that when Vermonters come together we can do great things,” said Sue Minter. “I am the kind of leader who will bring people together to make Vermont work.”
